Press On 1.01.10

All season long Zac Robinson, quarterback for the Oklahoma State Cowboys, has had PRESS ON printed on his face. I always wondered if their was a deeper meaning behind that. During his games, football announcers would talk about those words being an inspiration to him, how it was something he did because of his grandfather who had passed away earlier this season. He and his grandfather were very close and though I never caught the whole story, I know exactly how if feels to loose a grandpa. How it inspires you live your life in a different and deeper way…

So as I watched the BCS Cotton Bowl today, I was expecting to see Press On underneath his eyes. But instead, I saw this Bible verse on Zac Robinson’s face, Philippians 3:14 “I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven.” Wanting to know more about his story, I read an article from the Dallas News and found that Zac Robinson is more than a great college quarterback; he is someone who inspires me to become greater. I have loved watching college football this season. Tim Tebow, Colt McCoy, Sam Bradford and now Zac Robinson, some of the top quarterbacks in the country, acknowledge and live their lives for Jesus on and off the field. Next season won’t be the same without these seniors (I know Sam Bradford isn’t a senior but he is probably going to go in the draft). Their shoes will be hard to fill, not just because they are amazingly talented, but because of the legacy they have left behind. Their legacy of glorifying God in everything has inspired me to do the same. Sometimes it’s hard but I’ve found it’s always worth it.
