We saw a Whale!!! 08.25.11

When we found out we were going to be in the Pacific Northwest we made a list of all the things we wanted to see while we were up there. We wanted to see Yellowstone and the Ocean, of course, as well as the Redwoods and Mt. Saint Helens. We also wanted to see a bear, moose, seals, sea lions and all the other ocean things that we don’t have in Kansas. However, the number one thing on the list was a whale. We’d been to the beach in Washington state and got to see seals and jellyfish but still no whales even though they are sometimes spotted in the Puget Sound. Yesterday, our aunt took us to the beach and while we were cooking out and waiting for the fire to get going we decided go look at the tide as it changed from a lookout point near by. Alika was standing there and suddenly shouted about having seen a whale but no one believed her. However, a few minutes later the whale resurfaced and we all went wild (I’m sure you can picture it). Our aunt has been living in the Coos Bay area for 30 years and this is the first time she had seen a whale so we know that God gave a really special gift! We got several pictures but wished we would have had a bigger lense so we could have gotten closer, better pictures… The whale was there most of the afternoon and we never got tired of seeing him come up and break the surface of the ocean. It was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen and something that I won’t soon forget!Whale
