Marque Quarterbacks 1.07.10

“An unbelievable turn of events for the three marque quarterbacks…” Brent Musburger said that at the conclusion of the BCS National Championship and therefore the concussion of the 2009 college football season. He was referring to Sam Bradford’s season ending injury, Tim Tebow’s concussion and heartbreaking loss to Bama in the SEC Championship and now Colt McCoy’s devastating shoulder injury in the second series of the National Championship Game. No one expected these seniors to end it this way, no one would have written their endings like this… no one but the Author of Life could come up with these amazing life stories, “God has a plan and purpose for my life. I know He is in control…” Sam Bradford’s words after he was taken out of the Texas game were echoed with sincere emotion by Colt McCoy following the loss of the National Championship Game. I loved watching Sports Center every Saturday night and seeing these guys acknowledge and give thanks to God in every situation. I’m going to miss the inspiration next fall. As musch as love watching football, it won’t be the same without them next season. Stepping back and looking over their college football careers, I see amazing athletes, amazing athletes that constantly gave God the glory in every situation. Whether they were winning Heisman Trophies, loosing championships, breaking regional and national records or simply and stunningly playing the game they loved. When seasons fade into the background of hall of fame history that no one really remembers, there is one thing that will forever stand out about these players, they always won in all the ways that mattered most. God was first place in every situation. Whether they were loosing heart in final seconds or not, because of Jesus, they were winning in life.
