Forever Remember 9.11.09

They say you never forget where you were on the morning of September 11, 2001. It’s true too… Everyone in America remembers where they were when they heard the news about the Twin Towers, The Pentagon and Flight 93. The tormented disbelief, wondering how this can be happening here in the USA… memories rush back through your mind as you realized that that day is here again.

We were shopping on Friday, September 11, 2009, eight years after the attack on America. Danika was filling out her check and asked, “What day is it?” With reverence, someone answered, “September 11th.” Nothing else needed to be said as silence was realized in that moment.

I don’t think we’ll ever get over what happened that day. But you know what; maybe we don’t need to… Maybe, we need to stop sometimes and realize that life isn’t perfect, that tragedy is true, that we can’t fix all the failures in the world. Instead if we can trust in, depend on and cry out to God in those moments we’ll find that our memories don’t have to be haunted.

We’ve all had September 11th moments in our personal lives. Maybe one of God’s was when Jesus hung between heaven and earth, dieing so that we could be free. I read the book “Lets Roll” and cried nearly every time I turned the page. I was inspired by the fact that Todd Beamer and so many others died so that we could still be free. What the people on Flight 93 did for the people living in America, Jesus did for the people living in this world. Sacrificing hopes, dreams and life, letting us live… Every time I think of September 11, 2001 I’ll probably still cry, but I’ll also remember that sacrifice is more than a statement, it’s surrender.

Extreme Makeover – August 10, 2009

Wow! We are totally exhausted! This past week (August 3-7) we were ministering at God’s Mountain Bible Camp during their Jr. High Girls Retreat. The girls were great and the theme for Camp this year was Never Ending Love Story. The speakers talked about purity (physical and emotional) and it was an awesome time to just hang out with girlfriends! One of the highlights of the week was the Glow Jam. The room was decked in black lights and everyone had glow sticks, there was awesome music and tons of fun!

During this whole week we decided that we would love to bless the camp in more ways than music ministry. So, when we weren’t with the girls, we were renovating the guest house (where guest speakers stay). It was an Extreme Home Makeover Mini-Edition! We painted every room, laid brand new carpet, got brand new beds, furniture and accessories and completed everything all in seven days! It was tons of work but also tons of fun!

Check out the Extreme Makeover Videos to see the transformation.
