Dark Horse Day One 3.29.10

Today was our first day back at Dark Horse Recording Studios. This morning, Billy Whittington, the engineer, set us up with our mics and settings (all that technical stuff that I don’t have a clue about). Eric Copeland, our producer, arrived around ten and we started our session with Away in a Manger. We finished that song and started The Christmas Story. After that was complete, we went to lunch at Barbara’s. Barbara Home Cooking is something we had heard about since the last time we were in Tennessee the week between Christmas and New Years when we tracked the album. However, because of the holidays, they weren’t open. “It’s only home cooking when Barbara’s home.” as Brian Green said. We were all looking forward to finally trying this food and it definitely didn’t disappoint. Homemade Rolls, Fried Chicken, Mac and Cheese… I would go on but my month is starting to water with the memories of that meal. Obviously the food was fabulous (and we aren’t the only ones who feel that way, on the wall were thank yous from Dave Ramsey, Brandon Heath, Steven Curtis Chapman and Casting Crowns to name a few…) After lunch we headed back to Dark Horse to record one of our favorite songs, Come and Stand Amazed.

So now with recording day one over it’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas. Just kidding, but we are starting to see it all come together. That God blessed us with this amazing opportunity in the first place is mind blowing and to be living these moments that will make up some of our most treasured memories is an honor that we are continually thanking Him for.
